The story of old Hangtown (Placerville) begins at Coloma, where James Marshall built a sawmill on the South Fork of the American River for his employer John Sutter. On January 24, 1848, Marshall discovered flecks of gold in the tail race of the mill, and when the news spread, the great Gold Rush began. Now a historical, modern town full of great restaurants, shops, and fun and a great stop on your way to Lake Tahoe!

Unlike most real estate websites, we allow our prospective clients to view as many maps, properties, and other details as they want. We REQUIRE registration only when you have been reviewing enhanced photos. Providing a top-notch search experience is our number one goal, but the real point of creating any real estate website is, as you might have guessed, to get you connected to a real estate expert. Not just to earn your business but because technology only takes us so far in communicating accurate information. If you are NOT looking for a property within the next year, just say so in the "notes" section of our registration form, and we promise that no one will contact you. Nor do we sell or distribute your information in any way.
